Entry to ONE PAGE RPG JAM 2023

One of my earliest memories is renting Harvest Moon 64 from Home Video Rental or Popcorn Video back in my hometown. The plastic case and manual had a very particular smell that I cannot tell you what that smell is.

It blew me away. The feedback loop of the game was just pure magic for me. When I first started to think about what I could make for a one page RPG jam, my first thought was a farming game. I've really like the idea of playing an RPG on a calendar. Now, using some d6s, you can play a quick and compact little game of farming simulation.

Rules are for solo play, but can play in-tandem with other people, just each keep track of all of your own successes and calendars.

I even included the calendar!

APRIL 2024 UPDATE: It's happening! The EXPANSION PACK is here. I've added FIVE modules (FOUR plus a short blurb on multiplayer support).

1. Problems Roll Tables - Need help thinking up a problem? Check out this HUGE table I've made. It's a lot!

2. Town Map and Surrounding Area - I did it in Gear Acquisition Syndrome, and I'm doing it here again! Maps! Expand out your town center and the surrounding area.

3. Address Book - Keep track of who you meet. Are they just passing through town? Do they live here with you? Keep your address book up to date.

4. Bugs and Fish - While you're out and about, you might run into a bug or see some cool fish. Maybe you become an avid fisher or bug collector! Who knows! I drew a bunch of bugs and fish for this and it was fun.

5. Multiplayer Support - Basically, you just play all together in tandem

Let me know what you think!

NOTE on the Versions

First - Original one page entry. Included sheets needed to play it.

Second - The one pager PLUS the expansion pack content.

Third - ONLY the Expansion Pack pages

Fourth - All of the sheets and handouts you would need to play with the original One Pager and the Expansion Pack

I have played now my first season of the basic version at a late-with-family evening and find it a nice way to relax. Just me and my imagination while I'm guided through writing a farmers dairy.

Also my kids were interested and gave me some ideas for I could solve my problems. I think this is great for coop with children.

I'm looking forward for the next evening. I think it can become a nice ritual to come down from a stressful day.

havent played this yet but since i downloaded and read through i wanted to comment while i remember and give you my first impressions.

i really like the nature/town/farm/villagers split, it perfectly hits that farming/life sim mood, and really liked that the season changes which action is easiest.

i kinda wish there was a readymade option for a shorter game, maybe playing on a week to week basis instead of day to day? but as said i havent tried it so im not sure how quick i want to "win"

it would be so cool with another one page expansion of oracles/random prompt tables, that would help spark ideas for me for sure. might be cool with a couple of readymade farm worksheets with problems already filled in as well.

glad i came across this, im such a farming enthusiast we need more farming rpgs now lol!!!

Hey! Thanks for commenting! You're not going to believe what I've been working on for the last three days. I just published an EXPANSION PACK that has some tables for you to look over. I think it is not quite oracle stuff, but still hopefully something that is close.
